Parts of a Circle Vocab Project

I wanted a hands on way for students to learn the parts of a circle. Since I have small class sizes, this was not a big expense to get the supples.

  • paper plates
  • pipe cleaners/chenille stems
  • circle stickers
  • straws
  • rectangle stickers
  • hot glue gun

Here are the directions:

The back of the directions had a place for them to practice naming the parts of their circle as well.

My mistake was buying giant paper plates that the pipe cleaners weren't long enough for so just buy the basic cheap ones.

All standards should be the aspirin to a headache.

What do I want my students to experience today?

Volume of shapes with rice to derive formulas.

Turn conversions/unit rates, area/perimeter, simple interest into would you rather questions

Use WODB “convince me which one is best”

Open Middle- easily adjusted (closest to, highest, lowest)

Tip of the Day (QOTD): “Fail faster”

Common denominators as common units

Habits follow identity.

Ask me at least two questions.

Are we quiet because we’re shy, we don’t know the answer, or we need more time.

It’s okay if you’re wrong, I just want to know what you’re thinking.

You is a powerful word versus “your work”.

Unit Circle Art VIII

It's that time of year again for my unit circle projects!

My requirements are that it can't be made out of paper and has to contain radians, degrees, and ordered pairs.

See my previous posts here:  Unit Circle Art IIIIIIIVV, and VI, and VII.

I only had four students in Trig this year, my smallest ever.
